Juan Manuel Cichello
The player of Boca Juniors and River Plate first coached Villa Maria in Argentinean league and then stepped onto the national level in 2006 with the youth & junior teams of Argentina. He led his youth to the 4th and juniors to the 5th place of the world. With beating the old rival Brazil, he crowned the South American Championship.
Cichello led the national senior volleyball team of Argentina in 2008 after Jon Uriarte. He accompanied the team as the head coach in American Cup driving the team to the fourth place. Afterwards, this was Javier Weber who took over the national senior team of Argentina.
Cichello continued his career with the national junior team of Argentina leading the team to the world’s bronze (2009) and silver medal (2011). It was then that the Argentinean Julio Velasco as the head coach of Iran invited him to Iran in 2011 as the analyzer and assistant coach.
Juan Cichello stood by the national men from 2011 Asian Championship to 2013 World League. He made a major contribution in promoting Molfetta from Serie A2 to A1 in 2012 and led the team in 2013-14 season. The suggestion of Qatar made him leave the world’s top volleyball levels and he set up his career as the head coach of Qatar.
The multi-national team of Qatar reached to the semifinal of Asian championship finishing the 4th for the first time in their volleyball history thanks to Juan Cichello. In 2016, he signed a two-year contract with Iran Volleyball Federation as the assistant coach of Raul Lozano sharing the joy of qualifying for Olympic Games in Rio where Iran claimed the 5th.
Cichello takes over the national Volleyball U23 Men’s team of Iran in 2017 and soon after as the Asian champion succeeded to earn the berth for the world championship.
