Cairo, Egypt, August 23, 2017 - Turkey scored their first win at the 2017 FIVB Men's U23 World Championship here on Wednesday, 4-2 (15-10, 17-19, 14-16, 15-11, 15-12, 15-13) over winless Algeria as the two sides take the last two spots in the standings of Pool B and will not be continuing in the competition.
All matches in Cairo are played under a
new scoring system currently being tested: a best-of-seven, 15-point set format.
Turkey rank joint 9th (together with Poland from Pool A) and Algeria finish joint 11th overall (together with Mexico).
