Rodriginho, Gabriel guide Brazil past Poland for perfect record

Cairo, Egypt, August 19, 2017 - Brazil shut out Poland 4-0 (15-10, 22-20, 22-20, 15-7), but it took the South Americans an hour and 23 minutes to get the job done after a couple of very tight sets of tourament-high scores on Day 2 of the 2017 FIVB Men's U23 World Championship here Saturday.

Brazil, the 2013 U23 world champions, retain a perfect record at the top of Pool A after two matches. Poland drop to 1-1.

All matches in Cairo are played under a new scoring system currently being tested: a best-of-seven, 15-point set format.



Poland blew a set point in the second and two more in the third, but on both counts Brazil persevered and finished them 22-20 after eight and six set points of their own respectively.

Rodrigo 'Rodriguinho' Leao with 14 points and Gabriel Candido with 13 led the South Americans, who pressed from the service line, scroing seven aces to Poland's one.
