Five 2017 Men's U23 World Championship berths still to play for

 

Russia were the winners of the Men's U23 World Championship in the United Arab Emirates in 2015

Lausanne, Switzerland, November 15, 2016 - The qualification process for the FIVB Volleyball Men's U23 World Championship in Cairo, Egypt from August 18 to 26 featured successes for Cuba, Mexico (NORCECA Confederation) and Argentina (South American Confederation) in September, who joined Brazil, Poland and a second European country (pending confirmation of participation) as the teams qualified for next year's event, alongside hosts Egypt.

The qualification process will resume in 2017 with tournaments in South Africa (African Confederation) and Iran (Asian Confederation).



A total of twelve countries will qualify for the Men's U23 World Championship in 2017, including two countries from each of the five continental confederations and one team from the world ranking to be decided at the beginning of 2017. Hosts Egypt qualify automatically as the competition organisers.

The 2017 Men's U23 World Championship will be the third edition of the competition, which first took place in Uberlandia, Brazil in 2013. Hosts Brazil won the inaugural edition and Russia were the winners in the United Arab Emirates in 2015.
