Egypt players in intense build-up

Cairo, Egypt, August 5, 2017 - Led by Brazilian coach Marcos Miranda, Egypt have begun their final preparations ahead of the FIVB Volleyball Men's U23 World Championship to be held in Cairo from August 18 to 25. On Saturday, the African champions trained for the first time at the Cairo Stadium complex, which will serve as the venue for the World Championship.

"Our objective is to qualify for the second round among the top eight teams in the world with this promising squad," said coach Miranda.

"Most of our players will soon be with the senior team and it is our role to give them enough international experience at this golden age."

Twelve teams will participate in the 2017 Men's U23 World Championship including Brazil, Cuba, hosts Egypt, Japan, Mexico and Poland in Pool A and Algeria, Argentina, China, Iran, Russia and Turkey in Pool B. Russia defeated Turkey to claim gold at the 2015 edition of the World Championship in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
